Barbara returned to Pittsburgh in 2013 after living in Budapest Hungary, upstate NY, and Rhode Island. Over the past several years, she’s been pushing the boundaries between various art processes… photography, mixed media photo collage, and mixed media painting on paper.
From 2011-2013, Barbara left art-making behind (but took her camera) when she moved to Budapest Hungary to teach English as a foreign language. During that time, she was able to visit Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Prior to living in Budapest, she lived in upstate NY, where she was a member of Upstate Artist Guild, River Front Art Cooperative, and Saratoga Arts Council.
In Rhode Island, she was selected to be on the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts artist-educator roster. Through the state arts council funding, she facilitated weekly art workshops with newly arrived refugees and immigrants at a community literacy center. She exhibited her work at the Holden Street Gallery, Gallery Night Providence, DeBlois Gallery.
When Barbara returned to Pittsburgh from Budapest, she began making mixed media photo collages by printing her original photographs on paper, cutting out images and layering them on stretched canvas.
Her art had been available through GalleriE CHIZ and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts gift shop until their closings in 2017 and 2019. Barbara is a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists.
